chestnuts. They have been cooked, peeled and sealed in this pouch to capture
their naturally sweet and mild flavour. They're so easy to use. Mix them into
stuffings and stews, whizz them into soups, or stir them into cake mixes and
patѐs to add some extra texture and flavour.
"I couldn’t happily do without these, ever. And obviously, they come into
particular prominence at Christmas. Once my Brussel sprouts are cooked and
drained, I fry pancetta cubes or scissored snippets of bacon in a little oil in
the now empty pan and, when crisp, I add butter, then tumble in these chestnuts
to heat up, before adding the sprouts back and tossing everything together,
adding a generous handful of roughly chopped parsley. But I love chestnuts so
much, I couldn’t just eat them at Christmas Dinner. Add them to soups and stews
for the last 10 minutes of cooking, or crumble them into salads, my favourite of
which is a radicchio salad with blue cheese, chestnuts, and a sprauncy citrus
dressing made with a 2:1:1 ratio of oil, clementine juice and lime juice, and a
