Desiccated coconut. The coconut, grown on the coconut tree, is enclosed in a thick oval shell revealing a hollow kernel that is full of milk when under-ripe. Mainly grown within the Pacific regions, coconuts are distributed and known around the world. The nut can be eaten raw or cooked, often as desiccated, shredded coconut. It is often used in many savoury and sweet dishes.
