In 1867, Filippo Berio began crafting olive oils worthy of his family and friends, not to mention his name. Traditionally tins were used for packaging as they protected the oil from sunlight and preserved the oil's flavour.
This year's Art Deco collectors' series tin features the magnificent 'Il Duomo' in Florence. Built between 1296 and 1436, the cathedral boasts the largest masonry dome in the world, an engineering wonder created by one of the Italian Renaissance's foremost architects, Filippo Brunelleschi. Inventing many of the special techniques, cranes and tools required to build it, Brunelleschi's genius is recognised forever in his final resting place - buried within 'Il Duomo', lying below the dome he created.
