VITAMIN A
A for all functions. Vitamin A is vital for vision, immune function, skin, and
mucous membranes, including the digestive tract, urinary organs, lungs, and
nose. It’s also needed to use iron properly in the body and helps maintain
healthy teeth, bones, hair, skin, and nails.
VITAMIN B9 (FOLATE)
Folate is essential for some of our most critical systems: brain and immune
functions, energy, and mental and emotional health. It also aids in the
production of DNA and RNA in the body, particularly when cells and tissues are
growing rapidly like they do in infancy, adolescence, and pregnancy. Our real
form of vitamin B9 doesn’t require conversion in the body, unlike the synthetic
version, which may have negative long term health effects.
VITAMIN B12
To get energy from our food, we need vitamin B12. We also need it for nerve and
immune functions, psychological and neurological health, and healthy teeth,
bones, hair, skin and nails. It contributes to the formation of red blood cells
and reduces fatigue and tiredness. If that weren’t enough, B12 is a vital part
of metabolizing homocysteine—an amino acid our bodies use to make protein—that
is linked to cardiovascular issues if left in the bloodstream.
VITAMIN D
We need vitamin D3 to absorb calcium and phosphorus for bone density as well as
for the normal development of bones in children. It also plays a role in a
healthy inflammatory response (healing from wounds, infections, and damaged
cells), and cardiovascular function. Additional vitamin D is important for those
who have limited sun exposure.
VITAMIN E
Vitamin E is an antioxidant, so it helps protect cells and DNA from oxidative
stress, guarding against cell damage and aiding in detoxification. Vitamin E may
also help maintain a healthy heart, improve memory in the elderly, and support
healthy teeth, bones, hair, skin, and nails.
VITAMIN K
Modern diets don’t provide us with a lot of K1 and K2, both highly valuable for
the body. More specifically, there are circulatory health benefits associated
with vitamin K2, especially from the MK-7 form.
RED MARINE ALGAE (AQUAMIN®)
Red marine algae provides an absorbable form of calcium from an entirely
natural, traditionally-used source. It also provides a complex of synergistic
minerals and trace nutrients beneficial for overall health.
KELP
Kelp is nature’s very best source of the essential mineral iodine. It also
contains an array of other beneficial essential and secondary nutrients.
MICROBIOME SUPPORT
With microbiotics, beta glucans, prebiotic apple pectin, apple fibre, and
psyllium husk. Each 10g serve provides 8 Billion colony forming units of
microbiotic bacteria, 35mg of butyrogenic prebiotic fibres in the form of
1,3/1,6 beta glucans, 250mg of prebiotic apple pectin, 1000mg of apple fibre,
and 200mg of psyllium husk.
Ginger root, slippery elm bark, dandelion, milk thistle, aloe vera, and burdock
root also support the gastrointestinal tract and intestinal function.
PREBIOTIC APPLE PECTIN
As a source of prebiotic fiber, apple pectic is gentler on the digestive system
than inulin or FOS, which are found in most other supplements. So if you’re
sensitive to fibres and resistant starches, or following a FODMAP restricted
diet, this one’s for you.
FUNCTIONAL INGREDIENTS NOT OFTEN FOUND IN MULTINUTRIENT FORMULATIONS
R, S, ALPHA LIPOIC ACID
Touted as a universal antioxidant, the key benefits of alpha lipoic acid
supplementation are:
- Improved body composition
- Improved blood-sugar regulation
- Improved lipid and cholesterol profiles
- Reduced inflammation
- Improved neurological health
The form R, S, has been used because research shows its enhanced
bioavailability.
RESVERATROL
Resveratrol is a natural plant phenol known as an anti-aging supplement thanks
to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
COENZYME Q10
A fat-soluble, vitamin-like nutrient that provides energy to cells in the body.
It’s linked with cardiac health, fatigue reduction, and possible neuro
protection.
ADAPTOGENS
Rhodiola, ashwagandha, panax ginseng
Adaptogens help the body deal with stress. Each adaptogen has a slightly
different function and Good Green Vitality includes three of the most commonly
used by health practitioners to soothe the sources of long term stress and
hormone imbalance, as well as mediate fight-or-flight stress responses. Some
studies have also found adaptogens to support immunity.
