The most southeasterly of the Solomon Islands, Makira is a wilderness with one
small hospital, half a dozen shops and one small hotel. The cocoa for this 75%
chocolate bar is bought from Lucy, who owns a farm run by an all-female team - a
rarity in the male-dominated world of cocoa growing.
The cocoa is grown in rich volcanic soil, adjacent to idyllic beaches with
crystal white sand. The resulting flavours are rich and complex with notes of
grapefruit, raisin and caramel.
This is a bar of unrivalled quality that will excite even the most discerning
chocolate connoisseur.
