Harvey Nichols Ensemble is named so to represent the fellowship of the five
grape varieties that compose this classically styled blend. Winemaker Carl van
der Merwe has skilfully selected and blended separate small parcels of Merlot,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec, all sourced from
high-altitude south-facing sites in Stellenbosch. The grapes are fermented with
natural yeasts and then aged in French oak before being bottled. This
classically styled blend is deep crimson in colour and displays rich aromas of
red berry fruits with hints of Provençal herbs. Soft and silky on the palate,
this medium-bodied red exhibits further notes of cassis, black cherry and spice,
supported by fine tannins and leading to a long and satisfying finish. This
elegant cuvée is drinking beautifully now and will continue to age gracefully
over the next six years and beyond. Enjoy in true Stellenbosch style with a
traditional braai and fitting musical accompaniment.
