Made from unpasteurised milk using the traditional ladle-molding technique. This
creamy cheese was first made by Marie Harel, a farmer from the village of
Camembert. It was Mr. Ridel, a wine merchant in Vimoutiers who invented the
famous round box with wood shavings, ideal for storing the cheese.
